Voter Registration Requirements
  • You must be registered to vote in Orleans Parish to work on Election Day
Hours and Compensation
  • Start Time: Federal election 5:30 AM; State election: 6:30 AM
    End Time: Approximately 8:30 PM
    Compensation: $35.00 to $300.00 for Election Day; $100 per day for Absentee Voting; $50 per shift for Absentee Workers
    You must work the full day.
Work Requirements
  • Minimum Age: 17 years of age and a high school senior
  • You must attend a training session.
  • You must complete training for each election.
  • Training Details: In person training typically lasts 1 to 1.5 hours.

Further Notes
Students enrolled at institutions of higher learning located in Louisiana may be poll workers in the parish where their institution of higher learning is located, if the student is registered to vote in any state and submits to the clerk a copy of his student identification or fee bill showing current enrollment and a copy of his proof of voter registration. Early voting hours working hours are from 8:00 AM until after the polls close at 6:00 PM. Absentee workers will be notified for their time of work, but typically lasts at least four hours.
